Worship Prayer Stations Psalm 63:1-8

A song from the Desert

For the children: The kids make a garden oasis in the desert. Give them crayons and big long piece of paper to work on.

Station 1

Sand. Rocks. Jars of water. Image of desert.
You are my God. I worship you.
In my heart, I long for you,
as I would long for a stream
in a scorching desert.

As you pray this, hold a rock representing your heart and place it in the stream.
Station 2

Big jars full of  candles, whiteboard or window markers. Image of eyes.
I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
For your loving-kindness is better than life itself;
my lips shall give you praise.
As you worship write a word of praise to God on a jar.
Station 3
Blackboard contact spread out. Chalk. Picture of hands at work.
So will I bless you as long as I live
my hands working to the glory of your name.
I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
As you Bless God, print your hands dedicating them to his glory.

Station 4
Feathers, trays of sand. Image of night sky.

On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.
For you have been my helper,
and under the shadow of your wings I will rejoice.
As you place yourself under his wings, place a feather in the sand.
Station 5
Small table and paper table cloth. Geometric coloured stickers in coloured plastic cocktail glasses . Picture of feast. Prayer of Confession.
My soul clings to you;
your right hand holds me fast.
As you pray this prayer of confession, take a sticker representing yourself and place it at the feast.
Prayer of Confession
O Lord our God, too often we seek satisfaction in the wrong places.  We try to quench our thirst with artificial happiness.  We try to satisfy our hunger with quick fixes.  Almighty God, be in our vision so that we may see the feast you set before us.  Guide us to see you and turn from our sinful ways.
